After completing my internship with TADA! Youth Theater, the organization reached out to commission three more designs-- the artwork and visual identity for the upcoming original musical productions of their 2018-2019 season (see also Odd Day Rain).
Featured here is the work I made for Sleepover, a comedic musical about a slumber party and the tween-age problems the characters tackle, from crushes to fitting in with a new group of friends. It was essential that this design be bright and youthful to capture the attention of not just a tween audience, but kids of all ages.
Wanting to incorporate visual clues from the story and set the scene, I used digital illustration, drawing inspiration from book covers of the quirky, "girlie" novels I read in junior high. TADA! requested I use bright colors and a "fractile" border--key elements of the organization's branding.
The piece is being used currently on a postcard, mailed to TADA! students, members, and across the theater community in NYC. The organization is using the piece as advertising material, poster prints, and other branded merchandise.
